Digo que qué pena que no hubo fabricantes de platillos volantes pero no debería quejarme, ni manifestar pena ni aflicción, hombre de poca fe, porque los fabricantes de platillos volantes están por todos lados, cada día, en cada libro risible de ovnis publicado desde los años 50 del siglo pasado, exceptuado en España las cosas dichas y escritas por Ares de Blas, Ballester Olmos, Manuel Borraz, el señor de Magonia, las gentes de la Fundación Anomalía y tres o cuatro más por ahí por el mundo. Quitando estos, que son como niños, como niños que destripan un juguete para ver cómo es por dentro (y no se lo perdonan), los demás son fabricantes de platillos; ¡los hay a montones!:
El caso Manises (11/11/79) fue un platillo volante (¿de qué color eran los marcianos que viajaban en las acojonantes llamaradas de Escomb... perdón, en la nave extraterrestre?), no una monumental (y natural) confusión con las emisiones de las chimeneas de la refinería cartagenera de Escombreras, una atmósfera especialmente nítida, unos cuantos estímulos astronómicos, unas contramedidas electrónicas emitidas por un portahelicópteros contra el caza español que fue a inspeccionar la nada, y todo un proceso de creación legendaria por obra y gracia del mago platillista de turno por aquella época;
el 5 de marzo de 1979 los canarios no observaron los efectos en la alta atmósfera del lanzamiento de varios misiles Poseidon de la Armada norteamericana desde submarinos localizados en el Atlántico Norte, sino un petardo extraterrestre que viajaba en el astral, en el ultravioleta o en algún universo multidimensional de los que algún experto en auto-engaños (y en intentar contagiar a los demás) fabrica en su cabeza;
en el barrio de Zurbarán de Bilbao, en agosto de 1976, un poderoso platillo volante se apareció a los del lugar, nada de humo iluminado por los Altos Hornos de Vizcaya y el croar de un sapo partero que interpretó los efectos especiales sonoros, como pusieron de manifiesto Félix Ares, Luis Alfonso Gámez y Jesús Martínez Villaro;
y lo que vio el comandante Lorenzo Torres el 4 de noviembre de 1968 volando sobre la costa oriental española no fue el planeta Venus (a pesar de hallarse localizado justo en el lugar en que se encontraban las misteriosas luces) sino una nave de origen desconocido que realizó varias piruetas alrededor del avión. Es un detalle "sin importancia" que en unas declaraciones efectuadas el año siguiente al suceso el relato del piloto no citase estos detalles y que sus palabras fueras mucho, pero mucho más comedidas que después de pasar por las manos de un conocido fabricante de irracionalidades y patrañas pseudoespirituales;
tampoco la aventura de un grupo de soldados de reemplazo en la playa del Diablito (Gran Canaria) en abril de 1991 fue una invención de un par de famosos correcaminos de los platillos volantes, ni la supuesta acción de reconocimiento efectuada por el Ejército del Aire fue una chapuza, como algunas fuentes militares pusieron de manifiesto (independientemente de la realidad o no de los hechos, que ya es "independencia", por otra parte): lo que realmente ocurrió fue que en la citada playa se vieron unas luces y unas sombras a las que las balas disparadas por los soldados -atención a la película- dejaban indiferentes, mientras el helicóptero en el que se habían desplazado era sobrevolado por las misteriosas luces, que es decir lo mismo que platillos volantes, para qué nos vamos a andar con rodeos... Según uno de los soldados -soldados de reemplazo que fueron llevados a una playa turística a pegar tiros de madrugada durante media hora, gloriosa parida- los Cetmes fueron trucados para que no delataran su uso, y se ordenó boquita cerrada a todo el mundo. Mihterioh de la siensia...
¿Y qué decir del Dr. Padrón y sus extraterrestres con mono rojo dentro de una esfera traslúcida de 30 metros de diámetro el 22 de junio de 1976 en Gáldar (Gran Canaria)? Pues eso, nada de los efectos de otro misil aberrantemente percibidos por el citado médico, un testigo convenientemente trabajado por unos cuantos ocultólogos, paranormalistas, nuevaeristas de saldo y alérgicos al sentido común. Entre centenares de testigos fue el único que describió semejantes imaginaciones, pero como suele ser habitual su testimonio se convirtió en el más citado y reproducido.
Bueno, otro día sigo con la lista, que es casi interminable; he apuntado los primeros episodios que me han venido a la mente, ejemplos del enema número 1 de la ciencia contemporánea, el "misterio" por excelencia, el no va más de los investigadores de campo y playa, la farsa mediática más ordeñada del siglo XX, la leyenda urbana solidificada, el rumor de granito, el fósil viviente de un monstruo surgido a mediados del siglo pasado. Volvamos con Magonia.
Lo interesante, lo bueno, es que a pesar de todas las batallitas en los días anteriores a la alerta, de todas estas afirmaciones pro-platillistas y de las réplicas escépticas, hubo avistamientos, concretamente un mega-avistamiento (sic), según informó una fuente anónima en Magonia, añadiendo que lo que fuese aquello no se sabe, pero fenómenos extraños se vieron en el cielo esa noche, y, por suerte, no fueron obra de ningún escéptico ocioso. De una cosa estamos seguros: no fue obra de escépticos, ni ociosos ni atareados (al menos ninguno declaró haber confeccionado platillo volante alguno); pero de lo que no estamos seguros los escépticos es de que fuera un fenómeno extraño lo que supuestamente se vio la noche del 24 de junio dentro de la alerta ovni (que es como decir "¡miren al cielo de noche, se pueden ver platillos volantes!"). ¿Por qué fue un fenómeno extraño? Pues porque lo dicen los hipotéticos testigos y los feligreses se lo creen; se lo creen porque sí, porque les da la gana, sin pruebas. No las necesitan. El misterio existe, les basta el "testimonio".
El mismo que declaró solemnemente sobre la presencia de algo raro en los cielos nocturnos de la alerta fue el que a continuación soltó que claro, claro. Lo que pasa es que el escepticismo está condenado al fracaso, porque nunca jamás va a lograr demostrar la inexistencia de fenómenos paranormales, UFOs, teleplastias, etc., etc., etc. y mil etcéteras más. ¿Creen ustedes que esta sandez fue escrita así? Pues no, he corregido seis faltas de ortografía en la versión original; pero la idea se cogía, estaba clara: son los mihterioh de la siensia. Demostrar la inexistencia de algo es difícil; es como si yo pretendiese demostrar que no existe el hombre del saco. ¿No será que lo que hay que probar es que algo existe por parte de quien lo cree? Hala, a pensar, humanoides...
El proyecto Magonia no funcionó respecto a la fabricación de platillos volantes, pero sí en lo relativo a no ponérselo fácil a los tradicionales estafadores de la cultura. El cabreo, los insultos, las falacias, los estúpidos clichés de siempre escuchados y leídos los días anteriores a la romería platillista apta para las nuevas generaciones de crédulos, fueron prueba de que el experimento sociológico-barsimpsoniano de Magonia tuvo un tanto por ciento de éxito. Yo me conformo, en esta primera edición magonífera, con que algún interesado en los pseudomisterios radiofónicos se diera cuenta de que todo esto es algo que hay que tomárselo a coña. En cierto sentido, el proyecto fue la puesta en práctica de aquello de que vale más una carcajada que mil tercermileniadas...
